What Is It That You’re Looking For?

In the past 10 years I have gained weight and lost weight MANY times.

It was depressing as heck at how many times I would be so proud of myself for losing 10-15 pounds, then somehow within months I would have gained it all {plus some} back.

Finally, FINALLY I have been able to hold steady at a 25 pound weight loss for over a year now and need to get back on the “fat loss” wagon.

You know why I have been so successful?

I finally figured out what I was looking for.

Somehow in the past, I had this weird idea that if I lost a good amount of weight, all my life problems would magically be solved.

Sad, but serious.

This time around though, I realized that by losing weight I was making my life better overall, but that it wouldn’t make my life perfect.

I’d still have to deal with crappy people at work sometimes.

I’d still have bills that need to be paid at the end of the month when there’s not enough money.

I’d still have FAT days.

Finally coming to terms that my life wouldn’t become this magical fairy tale gave me enough courage to get healthy for the best reason ever – MYSELF!

So the ONLY reason that I am committed to losing more weight is knowing that I can be the healthiest version of me that there is!

What is it that YOU’RE looking for?

  1. That’s really great perspective and insight. So true that when we are able to figure out why *we* want something and why it’s important to *us* (and not someone else) that things seem to stick. For me? The reason to be healthy is my kids and really for myself.

  2. I’m right there with you. I’ve lost & regained over 100 pounds more than four times – lost track of the exact number at this point – but this time is different because I’m 100% focused on the health aspect of why I am making different choices. I want a healthier & happier life, and the price of admission for that ride is working out most days, tracking every morsel of what I eat and drink, and facing my feelings instead of eating my way through them. Feels good this time around and it’s a whole lot easier, too!

    • I love the attitude you have about losing weight this time around. Working out & eating well are the only ways to lose the weight. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, but remembering that our health comes first helps! :)
